An Albany man went to a SEFCU branch in Albany on Thursday, Jan. 23, to try and exchange dyed-money and has since been arrested and charged with robbery two weeks earlier, police said.
The money was traced to a robbery from a Citizens Bank in Delmar on January 14. Bethlehem Police Department arrested Darriel Murray, 21, for the bank robbery. Detectives got a call for red dyed money from a person at the SEFCU and, along with Albany Police Department’s CIU, search warrants were executed at Murray’s home and in his car where a substantial amount of evidence was seized, police said in a release.
Murray is charged with Robbery (1st Degree), Grand Larceny (4th Degree), both felonies, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property (5th Degree, misdemeanor). Murray was arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court by Judge Andrew Kirby and sent to the Albany County Jail without bail. Murray is due back in Bethlehem Town Court on Tuesday, January 28 for a Preliminary Hearing.
