State transportation crews are re-installing, "I Love NY" highway signs that were knocked down during the windstorm that tore through western New York earlier this month.
They are some of the same signs that federal officials are saying the Cuomo administration should not have put up in the first place.
About a dozen signs along highways between Rochester and Buffalo were dislodged or otherwise damaged by winds that gusted 70 to 80 mph on March 8.
The state spent more than $8 million to install 514 signs across New York that promote tourism.
The Federal Highway Administration has said the signs are too distracting for motorists and need to come down.
Governor Cuomo has defended the signs, saying they draw attention to local products and attractions.
