Bishop Edward Scharfenberger of the Albany Roman Catholic Diocese says with the bad news and divisiveness we all face these days, it is essential, now more than ever, to remember God's message, which he says remains the same.
When asked if church is even still relevant in the face of recent events, Scharfenberger says you have to differentiate between, "church" as a building or institution, and, "church" as God's people.
"But if we think of the church as God's people who are called to be disciples of Jesus, to bring His personal presence, then I think it's very much relevant because we all need healing."
Scharfenberger adds that he also wants the message to hit home with younger generations.
"What I find myself is that millennials that I know personally hunger for the truth, they don't like phonies, they don't like being lied to, they want authenticity, they want truth."
