Averages for Capital Region School Budget Increases

Tuesday, the 16th is voting day for school budgets in New York.  Capital Region property owners are facing tax increases of under 2 percent.

According to numbers pulled from the Property Tax Report Card by the New York State Association of School Business Officials, the average Capital Region budget calls for a 1.62% increase in taxes.  That's very close to the statewide average of 1.69 percent.  12 districts are asking voters to override the tax cap, none of them in the Capital Region.

Last year the number of school districts looking to override the tax cap was 36.
