East Coast Under Threat of Tropical Storm Florence

The East Coast could be hit with a hurricane as Tropical Storm Florence strengthens, with maximum winds currently at nearly 70 miles per hour.

Hurricane Specialist John Cangialosi, with the National Hurricane Center, tells WGY it could very well hit the Carolinas.

"Our forecast continues to show Florence moving westward, and then west-northwestward during the next several days, and by the end of our forecast period, which takes you through to about the middle to latter portion of next week, is when we show Florence getting very near the East Coast of the United States; our forecast now has it basically encompassing the Carolinas."

Governors in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia have already declared states of emergency for Friday and Saturday.
