The State Department of Environmental Conservation is now saying that the man from Hague, who said he was attacked by a bear Monday Night, was lying.
A Hague Volunteer Fire Department official says that the man said he was riding a four-wheeler when the bear attacked him. The man made it to a home on Overlook Road where he used a landline phone to call for help. He had many cuts and lacerations to his head and hands. D.E.C. is not saying how they determined that the man's story was untrue.
