Governor Cuomo tweeted Wednesday afternoon that, "NY, PA, CT, and NJ will temporarily close all indoor portions of retail shopping malls, amusement parks and bowling alleys effective tomorrow (Thursday) at 8:00pm. Together we will reduce density and slow the spread of #Coronavirus."
Governor Cuomo is now making it mandatory that all businesses have no more than 50% of its workforce working outside the home. This exempts essential services like food related stores and pharmacies. The announcement today by the governor is an effort to slow the spread of coronavirus.
Testing has dramatically increased and so have the numbers. There are now more than 2,300 coronavirus cases in New York State with 23% of them in the hospital. New York has about double Washington which is the next highest state.
Meanwhile, the governor says President Trump is sending a hospital ship called the US Comfort to dock in New York City Harbor. It has 1,000 rooms and operating space. Cuomo says Trump told him yesterday they are talking about the feds sending mobile hospitals that have a capacity of more than 200 people.
Cuomo says there is a need for ventilators which is also a national need. State health officials are investigating a possible coronavirus cluster in Borough Park, Brooklyn. Meanwhile, officials are still tracking cases in New Rochelle, but believe the earlier restrictions were effective in the Westchester County community that saw a huge cluster.
