Schenectady City Council holds a virtual meeting Thursday night to discuss ways to deal with a projected $12 million budget deficit.

Mayor Gary McCarthy has revealed a more than $87 million spending plan for next year. In order to save money, a hiring freeze is already in place and McCarthy has asked all departments to lower overtime spending. Councilwoman Lisa Perazzo tells NEWS 10 ABC that the city has been in worse financial circumstances in the past. Council could vote on the proposed budget as soon as Monday.
