A man charged with the murder of his mother in Albany now faces another charge.
The Albany County Sheriff's Office says Kristopher Castanon attempted to escape from custody Thursday while receiving treatment at Albany Med. He is said to have run out of his hospital room bathroom and headed toward the exit. Correctional officers were able to subdue Castanon and secure him to the hospital bed. He now faces an attempted escape charge. He was already charged with stabbing his mother to death on North Manning Boulevard Saturday night. Denise Castanon was stabbed several times in the torso and later died at the hospital.
