Fraud Charges Connected to COVID Levied Against Saratoga Springs Man

A Saratoga Springs man is charged with coronavirus relief unemployment insurance fraud.

The Department of Justice says Markhwan Berning got unemployment benefits through the CARES Act between May and July by using a fake social security number. Berning was arraigned on Friday. If convicted he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
