When the Tri-City ValleyCats take the field this year, the franchise will be part of a new league.
A three-year agreement has been signed that's going to allow the ValleyCats to be members of the independent Frontier League. Tri-City recently lost its affiliation with the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball. The ValleyCats will be playing a 96-game schedule, with 48 of those contests being at Joe Bruno Stadium in Troy. The season is currently scheduled to start in May.
