It's a historic day in New York as Governor Kathy Hochul has become the first female to hold that position in the Empire State.

Hochul officially took her oath of office shortly after midnight, replacing ex-Governor Andrew Cuomo who resigned following a report from State Attorney General Letitia James claiming he sexually harassed several women. Governor Hochul is set to take part in a ceremonial swearing-in Tuesday morning before meeting with leaders of the State Legislature. She'll also give her first speech as New York's 57th governor later Tuesday.
