State lawmakers are considering tracking your ammo purchases in an effort to reduce violence.

The Ammunition Data Base was created under the SAFE Act eight years ago. It is still not operating, but would track firearm ammunition purchases in the state.

At a hearing yesterday, the head of New Yorkers Against Gun Violence , says the database would allow for state police and any dealer to run a background check on any ammunition sale.
