After entering the race just a few weeks ago, State Attorney General Letitia James has suspended her campaign to become New York's next governor.

James released a statement Thursday. A Siena College poll earlier this week showed James was behind Governor Hochul in the battle for the Democratic party's nomination. Two other Democrats, New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams and Long Island Congressman Tom Suozzi, are still challenging the governor who is looking to win a full four-year term.

"I have come to the conclusion that I must continue my work as attorney general. There are a number of important investigations and cases that are underway, and I intend to finish the job. I am running for re-election to complete the work New Yorkers elected me to do."
