Officials in the Albany School District are strongly recommending students and staff wear masks indoors due to an increase in COVID-19 cases.
In the past week, 72 people in the district have tested positive for the illness. A spokesman says many of those individuals developed symptoms before returning from spring break and haven't been inside school buildings since before vacation began. The district isn't making facial coverings mandatory because the state says they're optional in schools.
