A Menands man has been arrested after being accused of setting a fire in North Greenbush.

Police say 18-year-old Colten Lownes started the fire late Tuesday night at an address on North Greenbush Road. There were people in the building at the time and they were able to evacuate before crews arrived and put the flames out. An investigation revealed that Lownes allegedly entered the basement and set the fire before leaving the scene. He was later taken into custody and arraigned on several charges before being sent to the Rensselaer County Jail.
