It's going to be a hot day across the Capital Region and residents are being encouraged to take the proper precautions to protect themselves from high temperatures.
The National Weather Service says a heat advisory will be effect from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm, and heat index values in the upper 90s to lower 100s can be expected. Folks should drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun when possible and also check on relatives and neighbors who might be severely affected by the heat. THE WGY ACCUWEATHER FORECAST
Thursday: hot with the temperature tying the record from 1955; a thunderstorm in spots late afternoon. One of the hottest days of the year; stay hydrated. High 98.
Thursday night: a thundershower in spots; otherwise, mostly cloudy, warm and humid. Low 73.
Friday: more clouds than sun; humid with a couple of heavy thunderstorms, especially late in the day. High 86.
Saturday: rather cloudy and humid with a thunderstorm in spots. High 90.
Sunday: a blend of sun and clouds, hot and humid with a thundershower in parts of the area. Caution advised if doing strenuous activities outside. High 95.
Monday: hot and humid with clouds and sun; a thunderstorm in spots in the afternoon. High 90.
