Federal Judge Issues Temporary Stay on Gun Ban in Houses of Worship

A provision of New York's Concealed Carry Improvement Act has been put on hold following a ruling by a federal judge.

On Thursday, the judge issued a temporary stay of the state's ban on guns in houses of worship such as churches, synagogues, and mosques. A lawsuit was recently filed claiming the provision is unconstitutional because it violates the Second Amendment. All other parts of the Concealed Carry Improvement Act, such as background checks for gun permits, are still in place.
