PERFECT GAME: Giants' Matt Cain Shuts Out the Astros
|
San Francisco Giants' ace Matt Cain was perfect last night, throwing the 22nd perfect game in Major League Baseball History, the second one this season, and the first ever for the Giants -- dating back to their days in New York. Cain not only threw a no-hitter with no walks, he struck out 14 Astros while he was at it.
Cain got a little help from his teammates. The Giants pounded the Astros with 10 runs. On the defensive end, in the seventh inning back-up outfielder Gregor Blanco made an incredible driving catch of Jordan Schafer's line drive that threatened to spoil the Cain's perfect effort.
