MICHAEL PHELPS: Beaten in Olympic Trials Showdown
|
Michael Phelps hopes to rack up eight gold medals at this summer's Olympics in London, but he's going to face some serious competition -- and some of it will come for his own team.
Tonight (Monday) fellow U.S. swimmer Ryan Lochte beat Phelps for the first time in the 400-meter individual medley at the U.S. swimming trials. Some pyrotechnics inadvertently went off during the race, but they didn't slow Lochte down.
This isn't first time that Lochte has beaten Phelps in other events. At last year's world championships, he beat Phelps in two events on his way to picking up five gold medals.
