UP IN SMOKE: Pictures of Diseased Lungs Don’t Scare Smokers

Earlier this month, the courts struck down a law in New York City that would have forced tobacco companies to put disgusting images of diseased lungs and decaying gums – among many other things – on the sides of their packs of smokes.

But, these images probably wouldn’t have worked anyway.

According to a new survey, very few smokers are convinced to stop puffing away by graphic images of tobacco’s effects on the body.

While 97 percent of smokers realize that their habit is a health problem, only one-in-four say the images have done anything to get them to try to quit. (NationalPost.com)
