No it's not about wrestling, it's about history.
My wife Nancy and I are getting ready for a week off, and for us that's a rarity, For nearly 40 years in Broadcasting, I've been a kind of a nomad, working for a number of years at any one station, but not long enough to get a LOT of vacation time.
Nancy, on the hand, works for the State of New York, where it seems EVERY day is a vacation day.
She may disagree with that analogy, but truth be told, she get more time off than the President, it seems.
Just call it "Camp Patrick".
Anyway, as I said we're taking advantage of the time we have. For part of the time, we're taking our two grandsons, Chris (8) and Zach (4) on a trip to Plymouth, MA. Chris has said for the longest time he wants to go to "an ocean". Zach just wants to throw me in the water.
So off we go for 2-3 nights, depending on how the money holds out. We have a great place we're staying at, with a VERY cool indoor pool. That way, should there be a rain out, we're covered.
As for the Rock, by now you've guessed out which one I'm talking about. We think the kids will love it, as well as the tour of the Mayflower.
We're also planning a trip on a "Pirate Ship", and I'm hoping the boys can organize a mutiny..I've always wanted to have my own big boat.
There's always whale watching.....in addition to seeing their grandfather romping in the ocean. I'm hoping I won't get beached, it won't be pretty.
Whenever we come back, the reminder of the time will be what we call "Mike & Nancy Time". No work, no calls, no relatives. The media has been alerted.
That sound you hear is a slot machine taking our money, but we just don't care.
After all, you can only lose so much money when the slots only cost a penny!
